Our client is an illustrious French cosmetics and pharmaceutical house headquartered in Paris, boasting a legacy of nearly 65 years of innovation, scientific excellence, and premium market leadership. As part of their global modernization and efficiency strategy, they are establishing a critical C-suite function based in New York City to orchestrate regional growth, operational efficiency, and commercial optimization across key global markets.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief Optimization Officer will bridge high-level strategy and operational excellence, ensuring the Group's commercial activities are lean, agile, and aggressively positioned for maximum profitability and market share.

1. Strategic Alignment & Cross-Functional Governance

  • Global-Regional Synergy: Partner closely with Southeast Asian Country Managers and Global Functional Heads to co-create, align, and communicate corporate strategy, business priorities, and performance targets.
  • Operationalization of Strategy: Translate high-level board room goals into actionable, localized retail and commercial operational plans designed to hit aggressive sales and margin growth targets.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Governance over retail operations to ensure absolute alignment with global policies, corporate security, and statutory health and safety regulations, minimizing risk to personnel and corporate reputation.

2. Commercial & Retail Optimization

  • Future-Proofing Retail: Generate cutting-edge retail models and commercial activities; maintain a highly sophisticated command of market trends, competitor movements, and disruptive industry shifts.
  • Campaign & Promotion Maximization: Identify, architect, and optimize regional promotional opportunities, ensuring precise integration with broader global marketing campaigns for maximum ROI.

3. Financial Stewardship & Performance Management

  • Data-Driven Budgeting: Influence and direct the retail elements of the annual budget process, securing deep buy-in from regional operations teams.
  • Fiscal Review: Continuously audit and analyze regional financial and operational data, empowering regional managers to deliver realistic, high-growth sales inputs and forecasts.

Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • Industry Tenure: 25+ years of progressive, distinguished experience within the Cosmetic or Pharmaceutical sectors, with a profound understanding of international market dynamics.
  • Optimization Leadership: Minimum of 10 years in a dedicated executive leadership role focused on Business Optimization, Transformation, or Corporate Turnarounds within a complex, multinational matrix.
  • Academic Background: Master’s Degree or PhD in Business Administration, Operations Research, Finance, Data Science, or a related field from a top-tier institution is highly preferred.

Core Executive Competencies

  • Advanced Data Decoding: Exceptional proficiency in high-level data analysis and predictive analytics. A proven ability to decode complex data sets into clear, actionable executive strategies ("turning data into dollars").
  • Strategic Influence: Masterful stakeholder management skills, with the gravitas to influence, align, and unite diverse Country Managers and functional leaders across different cultural landscapes (Europe, US, and SEA).
  • Agility & Innovation: A forward-thinking mindset capable of identifying operational friction and deploying modern, tech-enabled optimization frameworks.
