Job Description
C-Suite Executive Search, a division of RBNC's CXO Search & Interim Services, is dedicated to recruiting top-tier professionals for positions with a minimum annual base salary of USD 250,000 at the global, regional, and local levels.
Our client is seeking a highly accomplished, visionary C-suite executive to assume the critical role of Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) for the Southeast Asia (SEA) Region. Based in Singapore, this leader will be responsible for defining and executing the long-term growth strategy for the entire injectable portfolio, driving new market entry, and optimizing the existing business unit to maximize profitability and regional influence. The CBDO will serve as the strategic voice of SEA to the Group CEO and Executive Committee, requiring exceptional P&L oversight, a deep understanding of the sterile injectable market, and proven expertise in managing complex cross-border commercial operations.
Key Responsibilities
I. Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Growth
- Develop and own the comprehensive Southeast Asia (SEA) growth strategy, including market analysis, competitive intelligence, and identification of white space opportunities to achieve aggressive, sustained revenue targets.
- Lead the full-cycle business development strategy for the sterile injectable portfolio across the SEA region, ensuring alignment with global corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Drive New Product/Business Identification: Spearhead the identification, rigorous quantification, and prioritization of new business opportunities (including potential M&A, licensing, and strategic partnerships) to expand the portfolio.
- Portfolio Optimization & P&L Ownership: Take full executive ownership of the existing business portfolio, making decisive recommendations on asset rotation, divestiture, or strategic investment to maximize Return on Investment (ROI) and unlock key upsides.
- Develop and Execute Go-to-Market Strategies for all new and prioritized existing products, ensuring market-specific localization and rapid penetration across diverse SEA economies.
II. Executive Management & Operational Excellence
- Direct Financial Planning and Budgeting for the SEA Business Development function, including establishing organizational policies, recommending annual budgets, and implementing stringent control systems for fiscal discipline.
- Establish and ensure adequate execution of operating policies across the region that are fully consistent with the CEO’s broad objectives and global governance standards.
- Drive Significant Productivity Gains and optimize resource allocation through regular, data-driven reviews of the sales and operational structure, collaborating closely with Regional Sales and Product Management leaders.
- Oversee the development of granular, annual business plans tailored to local market trends, regulatory patterns, and evolving healthcare dynamics across all SEA countries.
III. Talent and Organizational Development
- Lead, mentor, and scale the regional Business Development team, fostering a high-performance, results-driven culture focused on innovation and market leadership.
- Establish and implement robust talent management policies to ensure adequate management development and provide a capable pipeline for key functional and business unit succession planning under the CBDO’s remit.
Qualifications
- Executive Leadership Experience: 30+ years of progressively senior executive leadership experience, specifically managing sales, marketing, and business development operations within the global Pharmaceuticals or Healthcare industry.
- Sterile Injectable Expertise: Deep, verifiable experience and domain knowledge within the sterile injectable or complex generic/specialty pharmaceutical sector is highly preferred.
- P&L and Scale Management: Proven track record of managing a business unit or regional P&L with a size of at least $1 Billion USD.
- Regional Market Mastery: Extensive, successful experience in developing and executing growth strategies across the diverse Southeast Asia (SEA) markets.
- Global Commercial Acumen: Must demonstrate adequate experience in strategically managing both complex domestic sales channels and international export operations within the region.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, or a related field is required; an advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Communication: Exceptional executive communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence C-Suite and Board-level stakeholders.
